Only the grace of God can teach us to say, "No!" properly
and effectively. All the human resolve we can muster
and all the well-intentioned promises we can make are
utterly powerless against the strength of fleshly desires.
It is only as God's Spirit works within us "to will and to act
according to His good purpose" (Philippians 2:13) that we
can experience daily victory over besetting sin.
So God's heart of mercy provides for us not only pardon
from sin but also a daily provision of spiritual food to
strengthen us.
